Adding a Domain Forwarder/windows

What is domain forwarding?

Domain Forwarding is similar to URL redirect, when a web page redirects a visitor to another website, but instead of using HTML or a script to do the redirection, the domain name itself redirects to the website. When a domain is set to forward visitors to another website, the domain's name does not stay in the web browser's URL bar. Instead, the new page's URL is displayed. If you want to keep the domain's name in the URL bar, you need to use forwarding with masking. This is applicable for all the domains registered with HostingRaja

Why do you want domain forwarding?

  • Increase traffic to your main live website, simply sending traffic coming to your unused domain.

  • Catching people who spell out your URL wrong by redirecting the version of your domain with commonly misspelled URL (ex. hostingraja vs. hostingraaja) to the correct one.

  • Send people from different versions of domain extensions to the main one (Example: hostingraja.in to hostingraja.com)

How to set domain forwarding?

To create a domain forwarder in Plesk:

Start creating a new domain in Website Hosting & Domains > Add Domain and specify the following:

  • In the Domain name box, type the domain name that you have registered with your service provider or a domain name registration company and from which you want to redirect visitors.

  • Under DNS server configuration, select the option Use our DNS settings.

  • Under Hosting type, select the Forwarding option.

  • In the Destination address box, type the URL address to which you want to redirect visitors.

  • Under Forwarding type, select standard or frame forwarding

To make an existing domain a domain forwarder:

Go to Websites & Domains, click Hosting Settings beside the name of the domain you want to make a forwarder, and click the Change link next to the Hosting type field and specify the following

  • Under Hosting type, select the Forwarding option.

  • In the Destination address box, type the URL address to which you want to redirect visitors.

  • Under Forwarding type, select standard or frame forwarding.

How Domain forwarding with Masking works?

Domain forwarding lets you automatically direct your visitors to a different website. The domain masking prevents users/visitors from being able to see that actual domain name in the Web browser's address bar.

Once the URL is masked it displays the URL mask rather than the original URL/domain name. The domain Masking does not affect the content of the actual website, it only covers up the original URL/domain name.
